The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has issued a recall for Indian manufacturer Everest's fish curry masala due to the presence of the pesticide ethylene oxide, which surpasses safe levels for human consumption. In an official statement released Thursday, the SFA directed importer Sp Muthiah & Sons Pte. Ltd. to initiate the recall process, which is currently underway.

Ethylene oxide, a pesticide unauthorized for food use, was detected in the fish curry masala. While ethylene oxide is permitted for sterilizing spices, its presence in food products poses health risks upon prolonged consumption, according to Singapore's Food Regulations.

Although immediate consumption of contaminated food may not pose an immediate threat, prolonged exposure to ethylene oxide can lead to health complications.

The statement further urged the consumers to seek medical attention promptly if they experience any adverse health effects potentially related to the consumption of the recalled product.
